The last time I checked the tickets that were sold for this event were for the Super Bowl.
That should pretty much sum it up. For many it still does not. The stage for this event is huge. There is a quick load in and load out. No sound check. A big audience. A bigger television audience. Both of which want perfection and are unforgiving about it. Have any of you ever set up a show? Performed a show? There is little room for error so why leave it up to chance? That is why the NFL decided long ago that they would wouldn't do that.
But still, people are focusing on the side dish and not the main event. That is not meant as disrespect for The Red Hot Chili Peppers or Bruno Mars. I've seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert. Twice. And they were fantastic. Do you honestly think that musicians like Flea, Chad, or Josh wouldn't sound great. Did you see their induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame??? That should end the argument right there.
It does bring up another argument though. Now that the cat is out of the bag...what about all of the other performances in the last 10 years that are now known to be set to a recording. Have you lost respect for the Boss? Or Prince? Did you honestly think Beyoncé could do a full dance routine and sing in perfect unison? I have no comment on the Black Eyed Peas.
The half time show is meant as entertainment. That is what it was and is. Plain and simple. We are not talking about Milli Vanilli here. We are talking about top notch musicians that are also entertainers.
In the words of Maximus, "Are you not entertained?"
